A video of a woman called the ‘black Karen’ by social media users is going viral again. A woman from Colorado can be seen yelling at a boba tea café’s employees. The Black Karen Video
The video has been surfacing on the internet for a long time. In the video, a woman accuses Trap Tea in Aurora of copying the black culture. Moreover, at the beginning of the video, the lady asked an employee whether a black person owned the cafe. The employee replied, ‘No.’ She termed the response interesting. Further, she repeated the same question. The employee replied, “We’re not; we’re all Indonesian.”
The woman further went on to accuse the employees of exploiting black culture to gain attention and customers. She further claimed that the name Trap Tea was taken from black culture. Moreover, the cafe was exploiting the community to promote the establishment.
She said, “Trap tea, trap tea, trap tea. The boba plug? You’re using black culture to gain customers.” She also constantly called the employees’ thieves’ and accused them of ‘stealing’ several times. However, social media users were swift enough to name her the black Karen.
Why Is The Video Resurfacing?
The term ‘Karen’ is a popular slang online. It is used to refer to a person who is perceived to be entitled and privileged. The person in question usually uses race and caste. Moreover, they even weaponize their privilege and discriminate against others. Several people took to the comment section of the Twitter user @AshleaSimonBF’s post. The netizens’ reaction resurfaced the video online after 3 years. People were infuriated by the way the woman spoke to the employees. They termed it rude and disrespectful and accused her of being racial.
The woman’s identity still remains hidden. Although, she has been getting a lot of hate comments because of her racial behavior. People have started calling her the black Karen.
