Introducing The New Whatsapp Feature
At a Mumbai event, company CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed the feature. In India, the feature is now accessible. It had previously been introduced in Brazil and Singapore. India is WhatsApp’s largest market, with more than 500 million users worldwide.
We’re making it simpler to finish a transaction in chat. As of right now, customers in India can add things to their carts and submit payments using any UPI app of their choosing. To make paying for anything as easy as sending a message, we’re thrilled to be collaborating with partners Razorpay and PayU, WhatsApp stated in a statement.
With this, users of the most widely used messaging platform in the world will be able to add products to a basket and transfer payments via debit and credit cards, UPI apps like Google Pay, Paytm, and others, as well as payment methods like WhatsApp. Users won’t need to visit another website, launch another app, or make a cash payment as a result.
A Major Pillar For Meta
According to the firm, this action furthers Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s vision for corporate messaging, which will serve as the “next major pillar” for the company’s sales expansion. According to a WhatsApp representative, “While WhatsApp Pay users will remain capped in India, there is no such limit on the number of users permitted to transact with businesses on WhatsApp using the other methods.”
The only end-to-end purchasing experiences available on WhatsApp in India up until this point were those offered by Reliance Industries‘ JioMart, an online grocery business, and the metro systems in Chennai and Bangalore. Increasing the number of payment alternatives will help the platform’s businesses.
Additionally, Meta has made its Meta Verified membership service available to companies worldwide. By using this feature, companies may prove their legitimacy to Meta. Furthermore, they can enjoy access to a verified badge, improved account assistance, and impersonation prevention.
