Who Are The Accused Murders?
Ashley Voss was shot in July, and two suspects involved in the have been arrested by the cops. According to reports, Stapleton was arrested on Monday. He also faced several charges, including one count each of principal murder in the first degree and conspiracy to murder in the first degree. Diaz was arrested on July 20, 2023, Thursday, at about 8:30 pm local time. He was charged with first-degree premeditated murder. He further reportedly shot Voss.
According to Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister, “This arrest is another example of the tenacity with which our detectives continue to pursue leads to crimes here in Hillsborough County. Our team relentlessly works each tip to remove any danger they can to the community we serve.”
Further, it was revealed that Philip Stapleton was the biological father of Ashley’s younger son. Moreover, in the final moments before her death, a text conversation was discovered between the two. Voss could be seen telling Stapleton that she would hang out in the car for some time as it was comfortable.
How Did Ashley Voss Die?
Allegedly, it was Diaz who shot Ashley. Ashley had parked her car in her grandmother’s driveway on the 4000 block of orange street. Moreover, Paris Dube stated that on the ring video, she saw that a man came near Ashley’s car and shot her.
She stated, “For whatever reason you felt like you needed to do that, she was a mom, she was a really good mom. She loved her boys, and now they’ll never know her.”
According to a criminal affidavit, “Detectives noted that the victim was sitting on her cellular phone, which was powered on. Detectives were able to access the phone and confirm numerous back-and-forth text messages.”
It further stated, “Stapleton stated at no time did he talk to the defendant about killing the victim or harming the victim. They were only playing a ‘prank’ to have the defendant defecate on the victim’s porch.”
Moreover, Stapleton was also accused of threatening Voss concerning some child support issues. Ashley’s grandmother claimed that Diaz didn’t know Ashley well, so he didn’t have a motive to kill the victim. Also, a GoFundMe page is created to collect funds for Ashley’s funeral.
