Who Is Michaela Efford? Photographer Sues Kanye West For Using Work To Criticize Vogue Editor Online

The photographer of the image Kanye West used to criticize the editor of “Vogue” has filed a lawsuit against him.

Michaela Efford, according to TMZ, has sued the rapper and fashion designer for an undisclosed amount of damages. The London-based photographer also claims that West’s unauthorized use of her shot during a late autumn Instagram tirade in which he ripped into stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson has harmed her professional life.

After Karefa-Johnson, a contributing editor to Vogue, publicly disapproved of the “White Lives Matter” T-shirts Ye sent down on the runway during Paris Fashion Week, Ye lost it.

In a since-deleted post on Instagram, the self-proclaimed “greatest artist that God ever created” used the photo taken by Efford to claim that Karefa-Johnson was “not a fashion person.”

“You speak on Ye, Ima speak on you. Ask Trevor Noah,” he urged (West had previously referred to Noah with a racist slur in a post after the comedian brought up the rapper’s divorce from Kim Kardashian on his late-night program). According to TMZ, Efford also asserts that the improper use of her image has hindered her ability to advertise and make money from the work.
