Who Is Nick Huzior?

Nick Huzior is the Deputy of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. He appeared to succumb almost immediately to the effects of the synthetic opioid fentanyl, which is, however, known to be 100 times more potent than morphine.

His claim raised many eyebrows as it is conventionally understood that fentanyl’s effect can’t be experienced by physical touch alone. A released body-cam video captures when Clemons refused a sobriety test and prompted Huzior to test the white powder. Huzior can be heard saying, “I feel lightened.”

Further, Sheriff Rick Staly confirmed in a statement that Huzior had indeed been exposed to fentanyl and that he was in recovery.

What Is Narcan?

Narcan, also known as naloxone, is a medication used to rapidly reverse the effects of opioid overdose. It binds to the same receptors in the brain as that of heroin, morphine, and fentanyl. Moreover, Narcan blocks the results of the opioid, which prevents life-threatening symptoms caused by an overdose. Narcan is usually considered safe and has a low risk of any side-effect.

However, some of its typical side effects are flushing, dizziness, tiredness, weakness, nervousness, restlessness, irritability, body aches, diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, fever, chills, goosebumps, sneezing, shortness of breath, or runny nose. Moreover, severe side effects include hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of various body parts.

Deputy Nick allegedly consumed the opioid fentanyl. Although, his denial of consumption has led to many people raising their eyebrows. It’s believed that the effect of the opioid can be experienced only on ingestion of injection; bare physical contact can’t lead to any effect. Moreover, some common symptoms of fentanyl include pinpoint pupils, falling asleep, shallow breathing, choking sounds, limp body, and pale, blue, or cold skin.
