On Sunday, Donald Trump (the former US president) faced his second assassination attempt. The gunshots were heard outside a golf course in Florida. Trump was playing there. Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign communication director, said, “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time.” The man who tried to assassinate Trump is Ryan Routh.
Another Assassination Attempt On Donald Trump
After Secret Service agents started firing near the boundary of Trump’s golf course, a 58-year-old suspect named Ryan Routh was found. He was arrested with a high-powered AK-47-style rifle with a scope and GoPro camera.
According to sources, while the agents fired, Routh ran out of the shrubbery, where he was hiding. He escaped in a black car. The higher authority was able to track the car with the help of a witness who identified it.
In a press conference, Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said, “We have somebody in custody right now that is a potential suspect.” The same is quoted by news agency AFP.
Who Is Ryan Wesley Routh?
According to the New York Times, Ryan is a former construction worker from North Carolina, Greensboro. Although Ryan has expressed his desire to participate in armed conflict in the past, he doesn’t come from a military background.
On X, he declared his willingness to “fight and die” in Ukraine. He also advocated for civilians to change the course of global conflicts.
He wrote, “I am willing to fly to Krakow and go to the border of Ukraine to volunteer and fight and die.”

Routh’s bio on WhatsApp says, “Each one of us must do our part daily in the smallest steps to help support human rights, freedom, and democracy; we each must help the Chinese.”
According to the New York Times, Routh wrote on the messaging application Signal that “Civilians must change this war and prevent future wars.”
Ryan, these activities didn’t stop here. In an interview with the New York Times, he accepted the fact that he had traveled to Ukraine to support the war effort and recruit Afghan soldiers in 2023. He even said he planned to move them from Pakistan to Ukraine illegally. He told dozens and showed interest.
According to the New York Times, he said, “We can probably purchase some passports through Pakistan since it’s such a corrupt country.”
This was not the first time he was linked to violence. In 2002, he was arrested for barricading himself inside a building with a fully automatic weapon in Greensboro. The charges were serious, but the case remained unclear.
