Samantha Rivera of CBS Miami used Twitter to address the recent surge in backlash after she fought with a fan who barged into her live shot while reporting on the Vegas Golden Knight’s Game 2 victory against the Florida Panthers at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The Miami Reporter Tweets

“I’ve been getting an influx of hate messages/comments these past couple of days, and to those people, I’d like to ask if maybe now is a good time for you to move out of your mom’s basement??” she posted on Twitter. “Stay blessed.”

Rivera also retweeted a message from a different journalist who supported her and said the following:

“Just spent 15 minutes catching up with @JSamanthaRivera, and to hear that she has been receiving death threats is straight criminal. Take what you want out of context, but to [threaten] someone’s life over a tweet that came immediately after an emotional situation is ridiculous,” was the tweet from Willie G. Ramirez.

Rivera Receives Praises

Rivera won plaudits online after the incident last week for pulling off the spectacular stiff-arm while keeping her gaze on the camera and carrying the microphone in the other hand.

The unnamed observer appeared to be wearing a Golden Knights jersey.

On the other hand, Rivera handled the situation admirably and published a video of the trending occurrence on social media.

She also updated on her Instagram Story, “The block button is a beautiful thing too.”
