We all are an acquaintance with the furniture company Pepperfry. Its co-founder and CEO, Ambareesh Murty, died in Leh due to a cardiac arrest. Ambareesh Murty was an alumnus of IIT Calcutta, 1996 batch. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering in 1994.

Murty called himself a closet sociopath on his X profile. He further professed a love for history, reading epic fantasies. He also had 27 years of general management experience in FMCG, financial services, and internet industries. Moreover, Murty started his career by working in Cadbury. He worked in their sales and marketing division. Further, moving into short stints in ICICI Prudential, Britannia, and Levi’s.

Murty founded the omnichannel furniture and home decor company Pepperfry in 2012 with Shah. The company is now highly reputed. He also gave the furniture market a new angle by selling furniture with the help of an online website.

It is reported that he died because of a cardiac arrest. Pepperfry Co-founder and COO Ashish Said in a tweet,

“Extremely devastated to inform that my friend, mentor, brother, soulmate Ambareesh Murty is no more. Lost him yesterday night to a cardiac arrest at Leh. Please pray for him and for strength to his family and near ones.”

Condolences poured in for the entrepreneur. Many users are taking to X to express shock and grief. CEO and founder of NirogStreet, Ram N Kumar, posted,

“Om shanti. Heartbroken and stunned to learn about Ambareesh Murty’s untimely departure due to a cardiac arrest. May his soul find eternal peace. An extraordinary entrepreneur and a true inspiration to countless… may his legacy with Pepperfry endure #RIP.”

Further, Debadutta Upadhyaya expressed her shock, offering her prayers and thoughts to the Pepperfry team. Additionally, she wrote on her X handle, ”Travel well Ambareesh.”
