Punjab Kesari has run articles with headlines that Gambhir claims are defamatory.

Gambhir has filed a lawsuit against the newspaper, its editor Aditya Chopra, and Amit Kumar and Imran Khan. He argues that they violated their journalistic freedom by publishing a series of negative and defamatory pieces about him.

Moreover, Gambhir remarked that these publications spread inaccurate and damaging stories about how well he performs his duties and how honest he is as a parliament member. These stories deceive readers and damage his reputation. The lawsuit emphasized that the reports unfairly portrayed him as a caste discriminator and a nasty politician. His suit said,

“It is the respectful case of the plaintiff that the pattern of these defamatory publications is indicative of a willful campaign launched by the defendants to lower the reputation and standing of the plaintiff in the eyes of his constituents, supporters, and the public at large. The defendants undertook no effort to confirm or corroborate the veracity of their publication ‘which further points out their collective malaise against the plaintiff.’

Earlier, a furious fight also happened between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. The two major players in Indian cricket fought during the IPL 2023 match. As a result of their violation of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) penalized them by reducing their match fees. However, the primary focus of Kohli and Gambhir’s heated exchange was Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq.

However,  there is a good chance that Kohli and Gambhir may cross paths again during the current IPL season. Both Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants are still in the hunt for playoff positioning. Following a hard-fought 5-run victory over the Mumbai Indians in their second-to-last league encounter on Tuesday, LSG consolidated their position in the top four of the points standings.

Gautam Gambhir’s Demand

Gambhir has asked for Rs 2 crore in damages to be paid to charitable organizations. Furthermore, he requested a sincere apology from the accused, which should be published in all Punjab Kesari-distributed newspapers. Which also includes digital ones.

Furthermore, Gambhir has requested that the court give orders for the retraction of all defamatory publications made against him. In addition, he works to guarantee that any inaccurate or negative information about him is deleted from the public domain.
