Why Guinness Apologize To Jungkook? Why It Is Trending On Twitter?

As ARMYs attacked Guinness World Records‘ official Twitter account @GWR on Wednesday, August 2, “Guinness apologize to Jungkook” quickly became the trending topic on Twitter worldwide. An item headlined “BTS members Jimin and Jungkook set even more records with solo careers” was tweeted by @GWR at 3 p.m. Keep reading to know more about the story.

The Tweet That Set Everything Off

The article details the numerous YouTube and Spotify records that Jimin and Jungkook set with their respective solo debut albums, FACE (issued on March 24) and SEVEN (published on July 14).

But the situation worsened when @GWR issued a second tweet in response that appeared to be the cause of the ongoing squabble. The tweet’s use of the phrase “luckily we found a source” just below the article drew criticism and annoyance from ARMYs.

The ARMY’S React

The post appears to have infuriated ARMYs. They feel Guinness World Records is trying to minimize Jungkook and Jimin’s accomplishments. Fans of BTS claim that the phrase “luckily we found a source” has disrespectful, snarky, and unprofessional overtones.

The supporters have raised concerns following a recent Guinness World Records article highlighting Jungkook and Jimin’s solo accomplishments. The story, which was followed by a tweet about “finding a source,” is being seen by some as being microaggressive and possibly having xenophobic overtones.

It all began when a fan @_RapperJK tweeted that Jungkook’s song was the “number one most streamed song in a single week on Spotify Global with SEVEN.” @GRW responded with the ironic request, “source plz,” which caused non-fans to make fun of the Euphoria singer. The first exchange has since been deleted, but @_RapperJK re-posted the tweet for reference.

Soon later, Guinness World Records asserted that Harry Styles still held the record. However, ARMYs pointed out that the Dreamers vocalist had recently surpassed Styles. They even provided evidence to support their claim. Then, Guinness World Records published a piece emphasizing Maknae’s solo career accomplishments with BTS.

The ARMYs that GWR tweeted the item in an effort to ridicule and minimize their accomplishments as soloists and deny them proper artistic credit. As a result of the tweets from @GWR, posts like “GUINNESS APOLOGIZE TO JUNGKOOK” appeared on social media.

Summing It Up

BTS is undoubtedly one of the most popular and influential musical groups in the modern era. Bangtan members will take a sabbatical from group activities to pursue their individual pursuits. They’ll release their desired music as soloists, according to leader RM. This announcement was made at their 2022 Festa celebrations. It is not surprising that the majority of BTS members who have already released their solo albums have seen commercial success.

However, Guinness World Records has not yet addressed the criticism from ARMY as of this writing. BTS supporters insist that they sincerely apologize to the SEVEN singer and his following for disparaging the artist’s accomplishments. In addition, @GWR hasn’t removed any of their tweets. They continue to support their cheery and lighthearted humor directed toward the Bangtan members.

Do you support BTS? Do you think that an apology is necessary? Make sure to share your opinions with us in the comment section below. Your response is much awaited.
