The success always lies in team work. Without the collective effort from people, no state will show improvements in any sector. To bring out that effort, CM Yogi Adityanath takes a new step to make PM Modi's dream of Swachh Bharat come true.
Recently, Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu announced Swachh Survekshan-2017 Rankings where the cities from Uttar Pradesh ranks top in the list of dirtiest cities of India. Not even one city or town from Uttar Pradesh has managed to enter even the top 30 rankings.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath decided to take the matter into his own hands and swept the streets along with his ministers in Lucknow to kick-start the cleanliness drive in the state and to encourage the citizens to participate in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.
He had also advised the officials to not chew tobacco in office or use plastic.
“Although this survey was taken up before we took over (came to power in UP), our government has decided to work in this area and by December declare 30 districts open defecation free. By October next year, the entire state will be declared open-defecation free,” Adityanath said.
Poonam and Dinesh, who have been running a community toilet in the locality for three decades said, "He is doing a good job. His gesture will surely inspire others,”.
But, a 26-year-old contractual municipal employee Kamal said, "The chief minister will do it for one day and go. People will forget about it. People need to be educated about the importance of maintaining hygiene. Every day I sweep the road and within minutes people start littering, spitting here. How does one change their mindset?"
Government officials across the state will be expected to spend more time cleaning areas.
If every state CM in India acts like Yogi Adityanath and if every citizen takes an active part in it, then for sure PM Modi’s vision of swachh bharath fulfills in this year itself.
Due to day to day busy working schedules, you may not have time to sweep roads. But, if you don’t throw garbage, cigar on roads then it means you are also contributing much for swachh bharat. By the way, do you still throw chocolate wrappers etc on roads?
